To become an insured member with Associated Beauty Therapists we require you to hold a recognised qualification in the relevant fields you are practicing. For some of our slightly more advanced insurable options, the member must have a prerequisite to gain insurance. A prerequisite basically refers to the member having the core skills necessary, needed, or required (in some cases experience) to perform the more advanced treatment.

This option is for an individual who is actually delivering a qualification and not to exceed 40 students a year or £25,000 turnover.

Subject to all other terms and conditions of the policy.

Relevant Industry Experience – determined on a case-by-case basis by ABT

Corporate Teaching - up to 3 tutors

ABT Corporate Teaching Extension - 3

This policy is hereby extended to indemnify the policyholder for the delivery and certification of accredited courses. This will include a maximum of 3 teachers and 250 students per year.

This extension indemnifies the insured member for allegations of negligence against them arising from the delivery of the courses and from student activity but does not extend to cover the individual student themselves if personally sued.

Subject to all other terms and conditions of the policy.

This policy is hereby extended to indemnify the policyholder for the delivery and certification of accredited courses. This will include a maximum of 6 teachers and 450 students per year.

This extension indemnifies the insured member for allegations of negligence against them arising from the delivery of the courses and from student activity but does not extend to cover the individual student themselves if personally sued.

To become a member of ABT you will need to have completed and passed a Beauty Therapy / Nail or Holistic Qualification to a Level 2 standard or equivalent.

National / International Qualifications include:

We accept all major training providers and awarding bodies as well as over 1000 ABT accredited training courses.

We also have an accredited companies section with hundreds of private, individual and post graduate training providers on our website that allows you to search for specific training providers that have been accredited by ABT. If you are in doubt, just give us a call and we will be more than happy to advise you.

Personal Accident

This policy covers you for bodily injury caused by accident and does not cover any claim caused or contributed by sickness. This policy will pay a maximum amount of £25,000 if you suffer bodily injury during the period of insurance which result in your:

  • Accidental death
  • Loss of, or loss of use of a limb(s)
  • Loss of sight
  • Loss of hearing
  • Loss of speech
  • Permanent total disablement
  • Permanent partial disablement
Exclusions

Any bodily injury, loss or expense arising from:

  • Engaging in active service of the armed forces in any nation
  • Drugs, drug addiction and / or drink driving
  • Travel to dangerous or unsettled areas
  • Any gradually operating causes
  • Non-passenger air travel
  • Suicide or self-injury
  • War

Business Equipment ‘All Risks’ Cover

This provides cover for business equipment, contents and / or stock up to a maximum value of £5,000. Sum insured options available of £1,500, £3,000 or £5,000 and covers:

  • Property used solely in connection with your business, belonging to you or for which you are legally responsible.
  • Property including therapy equipment, office equipment, tablet devices, computers and ancillary equipment, electronic equipment, photographic equipment and stock.
  • A £100 policy excess applies to each and every claim.
Exclusions

Any bodily injury, loss or expense arising from:

  • Brittle articles
  • Damage caused by wear, tear or any gradually operating cause
  • Damage caused by any act of dishonesty committed by any employee
Insurance Benefits

We aim to provide you with an affordable insurance solution which includes cover to work from home, salon or any other safe location in the UK or temporarily abroad (other than USA or Canada).

  • Up to £6 million Professional Treatment Risks Insurance should anything happen while you are performing a treatment or acting otherwise in your professional capacity
  • £6 million Public Liability should any accidents occur
  • £6 million Product Liability should there be any injury or loss arising from the products you supplied whether to your clients or up to certain limits on a retail basis also

In addition, we give you unlimited defence costs per claim with an unlimited number of claims in a year.
